A Family Tradition Any Way You Slice It
We’ve been serving Chicago-style pizza and traditional Italian dishes for more than 60 years, but the story goes back even further than that. Meet the family that started it all.
A Family Recipe for Great Pizza

For generations, Rosati’s has been serving authentic Chicago-style pizza and traditional Italian favorites made the old-fashioned way—with fresh ingredients, family recipes, and a commitment to doing things right. What started as one family’s passion for great food has grown into neighborhood Rosati’s locations across the country, all staying true to the same roots that started it all.

About Our Pizza

Chicago’s Greatest Thin Crust PizzaTM, crafted from family recipes passed down for generations.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Ferdinand Rosati, an Italian immigrant arrived from Gragnano—a town in the Naples region of Italy celebrated as the world’s “Capital of Pasta” with over 500 years of artisan tradition and opened a fine-dining Italian restaurant & pizzeria on Coney Island, New York. Inspired by the energy and promise of the Chicago World’s Fair, he made the Windy City his permanent home—laying the groundwork for a family pizza legacy that continues to thrive today.
Ferdinand Brings Pizza to Chicago
Setting down roots, Ferdinand brought his passion for authentic Italian cuisine to Chicago’s famous Taylor Street. His popular restaurant quickly expanded to include a hotel, saloon, and food import business. Introducing traditional old-world pizza to the neighborhood—crispy bread topped with family recipe tomato sauce—he helped build the foundation of Chicago’s legendary pizza culture.

Saverio Opens a Chicago Hot Spot
Ferdinand’s son, Saverio Rosati, expanded the family business by opening a flagship Italian restaurant in Chicago at Pulaski and Madison, steps from Chicago’s famous Marbro Theater. The hotspot attracted old Chicago society, local politicians, and infamous figures—including Al Capone and Eliot Ness, who were rumored to put their rivalry aside over traditional Italian pasta.
Rosati’s EXPANDS to the Suburbs
When Saverio retired, his sons Dick and Ron Rosati took the family business into a bold new era. Recognizing the rising popularity of Chicago-style pizza, the brothers launched a fresh delivery and carryout concept, opening the first modern Rosati’s pizzeria in Mount Prospect, Illinois.

A Family Brand Begins to Franchise
With ten Rosati family-owned pizzerias and the Rosati name firmly established in the Chicago suburbs, the family was ready for their next major chapter: franchising. In the 1990s Anthony and David Rosati stepped up to lead a massive expansion push – transforming Rosati’s into a nationally recognized Chicago pizza franchise with rapid location growth across the country.
A Proud Legacy
Today, Anthony, David and Andrew Rosati lead Rosati’s Pizza Enterprises as a nationwide powerhouse. The Rosati’s Pizza brand has over 200 locations across America, accolades of being voted #1 Best Chicago Pizza by the people two years running, induction into the Pizza Hall of Fame, annually ranked in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500, and more! Through it all, the family remains true to Ferdinand’s original vision: authentic recipes, quality ingredients, and timeless family pride.
